Summer walk in Denby Dale – Paul Clarke writes:

This year’s walk on 14 July, which was excellently organised by Chris Thompson, was very varied, leading us from under the impressive railway viaduct in Denby Dale, past an immense pie dish (the 2000 pie apparently weighed 12 tonnes!), up over the tops with impressive views, through beautiful woods, past industrial heritage in the form of colliery workings and a mill and finally a very welcome pub in Upper Denby, where the menu featured “Black Beauty” horse pie, and, unexpectedly, more industrial heritage. As ever, the walk was a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and make some new ones – a really enjoyable day out thanks to Chris. I’ll let the pictures do the talking now…
